Songjuk (Pine and Bamboo) is a juk (Korean porridge) restaurant on Supyo-ro 6-gil in Jung-gu, Seoul. Opened in 1968, it has been passed down through generations for over half a century, making it one of Seoul's most venerable porridge institutions. Originally located near the Chungmuro theater district before relocating to its present address, the restaurant has been featured on programs such as Wednesday Food Talk, sustaining public attention across decades. The signature jeonbok-juk (abalone porridge) incorporates ground abalone innards, giving the bowl a distinctive blue-green hue and an intensely rich, nutty flavor; prices range from roughly 16,000 KRW to 25,000 KRW for the largest serving. Sogogi-beoseot-juk (beef and mushroom porridge, approximately 11,000 KRW) is packed with minced beef and mushrooms for a mild yet hearty option, and traditional varieties such as jat-juk (pine-nut porridge), hobak-juk (pumpkin porridge), and yachae-juk (vegetable porridge) round out the menu. Every bowl is cooked to order rather than ladled from a batch, ensuring freshness, and neatly arranged side dishes including dongchimi, jeotgal, and pickled vegetables complement the mild porridge. The interior carries its years gracefully while remaining well-maintained, and the guest mix ranges from longtime regulars and nearby office workers to Japanese tourists, all dining in a comfortable atmosphere that suits solo visitors equally well. Doors open early in the morning, around seven to eight o'clock, making it a popular breakfast destination. There is no on-site parking, and the narrow streets of Euljiro make driving impractical; walking from Chungmuro or Euljiro 3-ga Station is the most convenient approach, with the Namsan Square paid lot serving as a fallback for those arriving by car.
