I recently visited Pungcheon Jangeo, a long-standing eel restaurant in Yeonnam-dong. The menu here is incredibly straightforward, focusing almost entirely on fresh, plump eel. What truly impressed me was the attentive service; the staff meticulously grills the eel for you over a strong charcoal fire, ensuring every piece is cooked to absolute perfection. I loved dipping the crispy grilled eel in a little salt and eating it with fresh chives. You must order at least one eel per person, but the side dishes and lettuce wraps are unlimited. To finish the meal, I highly recommend ordering the Kimchi cold noodles. The sweet and refreshing broth perfectly balances the richness of the eel. Be aware that the restaurant can get quite smoky, and the air conditioning struggles a bit during severe heatwaves, so dress lightly!
