Hansangcharim Bapsang is a bossam and galbijjim restaurant on Hanbits-ro in Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul, distinguished by a side dish spread so abundant that it crowds every inch of the table. The bossam features large, tender pieces of pork that come apart cleanly, best enjoyed wrapped with salted shrimp, ssamjang, and pa-kimchi to vary the flavor with each bite. The galbijjim received an upgraded plating after a renovation, with the braised short ribs pairing well with the seasoned sauce. Stone-pot rice orders include a doenjang-jjigae per person, and the well-cooked rice stands satisfying alongside the side dishes alone. The square steamed egg earns consistent praise for its fluffy texture, and banchan refills are handled without restriction. The bossam two-person set is the standard recommendation, though a combination of one portion of bossam and one of galbijjim can also be ordered. Solo dining is not accommodated, with a minimum party of two required. Waits can develop during lunchtime. The restaurant relocated from behind Seongbuk District Office to its current address, and the renovation brought an upgraded interior and table setting suitable for couples. The kitchen is known for careful, labor-intensive preparation, and the restaurant draws particularly strong loyalty from an older regular clientele.
