Deoksu Sikdang is a gegukji specialist in Taean-eup, Chungcheongnam-do, whose visibility expanded significantly following television exposure. Gegukji is a traditional Chungnam crab stew featuring large flower crabs packed with meat in a sweet, clean broth that sustains interest throughout the meal. Each serving is priced at 17,000 won and comes with more than ten refined side dishes plus complimentary dol-gejang (stone crab marinated in soy sauce). The dalrae-jang and sesame oil-dressed myeongnan-jeot are the most distinctive accompaniments, the salted roe wrapped in gim is a particular highlight, and the side dishes alone can empty a bowl of rice before the main dish arrives. Staff assist with cracking and deboning the crab, and side dish refills are offered attentively. Children aged ten and under are not permitted. Even on weekdays, arriving before the 10:30 AM opening is necessary; the entry system requires writing the menu choice and phone number on the waiting list at the entrance. Missing the first seating results in at least an additional thirty-minute wait, and the restaurant closes in the early afternoon once ingredients are depleted. Parking is street-side only, and waiting in the vehicle for a phone notification is the most practical approach during busy periods.
