Chilbo Nongwon focuses exclusively on sulfur-fed fresh duck grilled over charcoal. Located at 2435-8 Hwaseong-ro, Maesong-myeon, Hwaseong-si, this establishment has maintained its reputation for over a decade near the foot of Chilbosan Mountain. The menu consists of a single item: salted fresh duck. Grilling the meat over real charcoal allows the fat to drain away, highlighting the natural savors of the duck. Since the meat arrives pre-salted, it remains flavorful without additional sauces. A wide selection of fresh vegetables is provided for wraps, adding a crisp texture to the meal. Each serving weighs 300g, but as the meat shrinks during grilling, ordering according to the headcount is practical. For large orders, the kitchen provides a partial pre-grilling service upon request. After the meat, a bowl of mung bean porridge is served. The porridge is light and free of grease, serving as a clean finish to the meal with refills available. Small sweet potatoes tucked inside the charcoal grill offer a warm snack at the end. The interior features a repurposed greenhouse structure filled with plants and heaters, creating an atmosphere similar to a garden or an outdoor campsite.
