The exit gate only opens when you scan the QR code on a ticket. Diners get that exit ticket when paying at the restaurant, walk the garden and the indoor conservatory, then scan it on the way out. Anyone who skips both the restaurant and the cafe pays a separate admission fee. The restaurant sits just inside the main gate, serving wood-fired pizza, generous pasta and a pumpkin soup that counts as the signature. The outdoor garden has little to show in winter and is worth the trip from spring to autumn.
