Dongnyeok is a donkatsu specialist in Songdo, Seo-gu, Busan, run by a husband-and-wife team whose warm hospitality is as notable as the food itself. The signature blueberry cheese donkatsu features a crispy fried cutlet topped generously with melted cheese and drizzled with blueberry sauce, a combination that sounds improbable but works remarkably well, with the savory cheese and the sweet-tart berries balancing each other through the last bite. The fish katsu uses a firm, pollock-like white fish that delivers clean, delicate flavor, making it a strong alternative for lighter appetites. Chicken katsu and potato dishes are also available. Ordering the milmyeon (Busan-style cold noodle) set adds substantial volume to the meal, and the milmyeon itself holds its own against dedicated noodle restaurants.
