Daehwa Sikdang is a decades-old restaurant tucked inside an alley of Pohang's Jukdo Market, serving just one menu item: boribap jeongsik (barley rice set meal). Seating triggers automatic service based on the number of diners, with the option to choose between white rice, barley rice, or a mix. The set comes in a large bowl with various seasoned vegetables and sesame oil for mixing, accompanied by a whole grilled mackerel and doenjang jjigae. The yeolmu mul-kimchi stands out for its refreshing, cool tang, and the thick sungnyung (roasted rice tea) served at the end provides a satisfying finish. The restaurant gained additional recognition after being featured in the manhwa artist Heo Yeongman's 'Sikgaek' series. At 6,000 to 8,000 won per person, the value is exceptional for the quality and quantity of food provided.
