Yuraehoegwan is a Korean beef (hanwoo) restaurant in Hongik-dong, Seongdong-gu, Seoul, carrying a long history as one of the established old-guard dining houses in the Seongsu-dong area. Many regulars rate it above the nearby and well-known Daedo Sikdang, and despite undergoing renovations, the restaurant retains much of its original character. The centerpiece is the sirloin, listed on the menu as fresh sirloin but actually wet-aged through a careful process that concentrates flavor. Seared on a cast-iron plate just to the point of Maillard browning, the meat practically melts on the tongue with an intensely nutty richness that defines the experience. The tenderloin is also commendable, with a soft texture and abundant juice, though the sirloin remains the undisputed star. Seasoned diners often recommend starting with the tenderloin before moving on to the sirloin for a well-paced progression. The yukhoe (beef tartare) is fresh and generously portioned. Two options anchor the end of the meal: the kkakdugi fried rice melds beef drippings with crunchy radish kimchi for a superb finish, while the doenjang noodle soup delivers a clean, anchovy-based soybean broth that cuts through any lingering richness. This is the kind of place that confirms the wisdom of closing a meat meal with carbohydrates. At 38,000 won per serving, the pricing sits in the upper range, but the quality and quantity of the beef justify the cost. The spacious dining hall accommodates group gatherings and family dinners comfortably, and the staff maintain a relaxed yet attentive service style. Naengmyeon was thought to be a lunch-only option, but evening availability has been reported on occasion, so it is worth inquiring. Valet parking incurs a 1,000 won fee.
