Bokseonggak Mapo Bonjeom 복성각 마포본점

Founded in Sinchon in 1953 by a Chinese-Korean (Hwagyo) family now in its third generation, the restaurant moved to this basement in Mapo's Samchang Plaza in 2011. Its garlic tangsuyuk uses thin pork fried chewy-crisp like Chinese guobaorou, coated in a thick sauce full of coarsely chopped garlic that is sweet with a sharp bite. Napjakgochu jjajangmyeon, broad flat noodles in black bean sauce with chili, is the house's own noodle dish. Several private rooms make it a common choice for work dinners, and the largest seats twelve. Office workers line up at lunch, and parking is free for three hours.
