Bidam 비담

Inside a renovated hanok more than a century old, the seats wrap around a courtyard left open to the sky. Rafters and wooden posts stay exposed, while glittering lights and ornaments on the inner walls and ceiling earned the space an iF Design Award. Besides chairs there is low floor seating, and on rainy days guests stay dry under the eaves while water falls into the yard. The menu centers on patbingsu shaved ice with red beans, a black sesame latte, and the Bidam cream salted latte, where dense salty cream fills about half the glass above the coffee. Cheesecake and other slices are on offer too. It is a quiet stop in Bukchon, close to Gyeongbokgung.
