Yoonjae Coffee is a garden cafe on Jungang-ro 12-gil in Jeju City, tucked into an alley across from Dongmun Market. A mother-daughter team has cultivated its striking purple hydrangea garden over eight years, and the vivid blooms greet visitors the moment they turn into the lane, creating an oasis-like atmosphere within the Jeju city center. Inside, artwork and handmade decor personally selected and crafted by the mother line the walls, lending the space a warmth reminiscent of visiting a family home. The signature homemade gireum-tteok set, priced at 10,000 won, features three flavors of oil rice cake accompanied by braised abalone and seasonal fruit, all presented with careful plating. The chewy, glutinous texture of the rice cakes proves addictive after the first taste. The gireum-tteok is available only after 1 PM, so timing the visit accordingly is important. Portions can be adjusted for children, and takeout is an option. The coffee is characterized by a full, weighty body, with the Yunjae Einspanner and Yunjae Enna standing as recommended orders. The drip bag coffee is well-regarded enough that regulars purchase packs on every visit. In summer, the snowflake bingsu joins the menu with generous portions and soft injeolmi rice cake toppings, forming the other pillar of the dessert selection alongside the gireum-tteok. The attentiveness of the mother-daughter owners leaves a lasting impression, with gestures like remaking a drink when the cream melts during a photo session or pressing a warm chamomile tea into a departing guest's hands. The cafe's proximity to Jeju Airport makes it a convenient first or last stop on any trip, and many long-term visitors on month-long stays become repeat customers. Business hours end at 6 PM, and on-site parking is limited to two or three spaces, so the paid lot at nearby Jungang Cathedral is the recommended alternative.
