스퀘어루트 커피앤베이커리
Square Root Coffee and Bakery is a large-scale ocean-view cafe on Gajin Beach in Jukwang-myeon, Goseong-gun, Gangwon Province. Massive floor-to-ceiling windows deliver an unbroken sweep of the sea from the first floor upward, but the defining moment arrives on the fourth-floor rooftop, where a panoramic vista of both ocean and mountains opens in every direction. The tall ceilings and airy interior make an immediate impression, and the building gained additional recognition as a filming location for the K-drama Thirty-Nine. The coffee meets a standard baseline and the bakery offers a range of breads and cakes, though prices run on the higher side — the true draw here is the scenery and the atmosphere rather than the food itself. The second and third floors operate as guest rooms, allowing overnight stays with ocean views, and the surrounding quiet means that a late-night trip to the rooftop can reward with stargazing thanks to minimal light pollution. The cafe is optimized for the simple pleasure of sitting with a drink while staring at the sea in unhurried silence, though weekends and peak seasons pack the seating to a density that raises noise levels considerably, making weekday visits far more relaxing. The annex building may carry a slight musty odor from limited ventilation. The parking lot is spacious but entirely covered in gravel, which can be inconvenient for rolling luggage, and the address does not always display accurately on Google Maps, so verifying navigation in advance is recommended. Surfers are a regular sight on the beach directly in front of the cafe.
