Okgwa Hanuchon 옥과한우촌

Beef from cattle the owners raise themselves goes into everything at this hanwoo house in Osan-myeon, Gokseong. The signature is hanwoo saenggogi bibimbap, rice heaped with fresh raw beef (yukhoe), which draws more orders than the grilled cuts. Hanwoo tteokguk pairs house-made rice cakes with a dense beef-bone broth. Cold noodles come in broth, spicy and yukhoe-topped versions, each with a clear ox-blood soup (seonjiguk) on the side. Plain raw beef and yukhoe are mildly seasoned and work as drinking snacks, served with cool dongchimi, a radish water kimchi. The restaurant moved into a new building behind the old one, with outdoor tables and ample parking, and it stays open on public holidays.
