Myeongwol Elementary School 명월국민학교

Built in 1955 and later closed, the old Myeongwol school is now split classroom by classroom into a cafe, a retro stationery-style shop and a small gallery. The wooden corridors survive, with seats along them that face the grounds outside. For a cafe it sells a surprising amount of food: Pikachu-shaped pork cutlets, old-style tteokbokki and cheap retro candy, enough to stand in for a meal. Basque cheesecake and plum ade are the ones people name, and drinks cost a little more than usual. The grassy schoolyard is big enough for kids to run flat out.
