Coffee Hanyakbang occupies a narrow alleyway that branches off the main road in a way that makes the entrance easy to walk past, yet once inside, the space reads more like a living archive of the early 20th-century Gaehwagi period than a modern cafe. It is 350m from Euljiro 3-ga Station. Antique furniture, aged props, and preserved architectural details are distributed across two floors, each corner composed with a care that rewards slow inspection. The signature drip coffee is roasted over an open flame on the first floor before service, and carrying a tray up the steep, creaky staircase to the second-floor seating or across the path to the affiliated Hyemindang bakery is part of how the visit unfolds. Among the drinks, the Sujeonggwa in Gabae stands apart: the weighted, almost earthy character of filter coffee is drawn alongside the sharp spice and cinnamon warmth of traditional sujeonggwa punch, producing a contrast that neither drink achieves on its own. Cakes are a straightforward accompaniment to the hand-dripped brew and hold their own, though the bread offerings are more ordinary and unlikely to be the main draw. The narrow wooden stairs are genuinely steep and require care when carrying a full tray. Seating is limited and the layout is unconventional, meaning the flow of the visit depends partly on what tables open up.
