Jeokdang 적당

Red timber arches and a small dry garden of stone, sand and bamboo fill a building lobby by Exit 1-1 of Euljiro 1-ga Station, across from Lotte Hotel. The name, Jeokdang, plays on the characters for red bean and on the Korean word for just right. Yanggaeng, red-bean paste set with agar into smooth, dense squares, anchors the menu, with a Dubai version that adds nuts and crunchy bits. Monaka sandwiches red bean and ice cream between thin rice wafers, and the angbutter baekseolgi tucks bean paste and butter into crumbly steamed rice cake. The red-bean latte, blended with milk, tastes like a melted red-bean ice pop. Lighting is low and the room is quiet.
