250m from Myeong-dong Station. Cafe Coin is a vintage-style coffeehouse that has maintained its old-school character in the heart of Myeongdong, Seoul, surrounded by chain cafes on every side. A branch exists near Euljiro-ipgu as well, but the Myeongdong location carries a distinctly stronger atmosphere. Stepping inside evokes memories of university-era coffeehouses - antique furnishings, warm lighting, and a sense of romance that modern cafes rarely manage to replicate. The space gained additional visibility as a filming location for the K-drama Eunju's Room, and a steady flow of international visitors now find their way here, supported by an English-speaking staff member on the floor. Drip coffee is the base offering, with sugar and cream available on request rather than added by default. The iced Coin Blend retains its aroma well even cold, and the Vienna coffee and decaf drip both perform reliably. The other standout is the house-made waffle, mixed and baked from scratch to order - soft, subtly sweet, and an excellent pairing with any of the coffee options. Variations include green-tea ice cream and plain versions. Over seven types of cake are available, with the dense cheesecake drawing particular praise. A milk-tea bingsu arrives garnished with sliced persimmon, an unexpected combination that works. Tea is served in a full teapot, lending a slightly European feel. An ice cream is occasionally offered as a complimentary side, and americano refills are available for 1,500 won. Service follows a traditional model: staff take orders at the table and deliver drinks, and payment is settled at the door on the way out. The owner greets guests personally at the entrance with genuine warmth, guiding each party to their seat. The two-story structure provides ample space, including group seating for five or more. A smoking room is available inside. The cafe sustains a steady clientele into late hours, creating a reliable environment for unhurried conversation. The entrance staircase is steep and no parking is available on-site; the nearest access point is Myeongdong Station Exit 6, a three-minute walk away.
