Completed in December 1932 as a wooden house, the building served as General Dean's residence under the US military government after liberation and passed to a member of the 2nd National Assembly after 1954 before becoming this cafe. The gable roof, window frames and rooms branching off a narrow corridor survive, so each floor feels different: a large communal table in the basement, small room-sized seating above, and a tatami floor where shoes come off. Beans are roasted on site, and the herbal tea blends hibiscus, peppermint and lemon balm with honey. Strawberry pandoro is a tall, sugar-dusted bread topped with whipped cream and strawberries.
