Maehwa Mareum 매화마름

Ivy covers this single-story wooden building, and inside are several small rooms, each window framing the goldfish pond, the garden and the fields a little differently. It sits in the middle of farmland in Gilsang-myeon, Ganghwa, so it is quiet and hard to reach without a car. In winter the view is of dry grass, so the morning after snowfall is when it comes alive. Dogs are welcome, though on some days the smell from a nearby livestock barn drifts over the outdoor seats. Five kinds of loaf are baked in house, and the Earl Grey loaf with a Yirgacheffe hand drip is the pairing here.
