Gold Medal Chueotang 금메달추어탕

Gold Medal Chueotang is a loach soup restaurant at 28 Yeollakgol-ro in Unyeon-dong's Yeollakgol Chueo Village, Namdong-gu, Incheon. It is close to Exit 1 of Unyeon Station on Incheon Subway Line 2. The restaurant prepares a regional red-chili-paste style of chueotang, producing a thick, spicy broth closer in texture to fish porridge than a clear soup. Hand-torn dough pieces and thin wheat noodles are included in the bowl. Their quantities can be adjusted when ordering, allowing the balance between broth, dough, and noodles to be changed. Each soup order comes with freshly cooked stone-pot rice. After the rice is removed, hot water can be poured into the pot to make toasted rice and scorched-rice tea. The spice level of the soup can also be selected. Deep-fried loach is available as a side dish. Around five home-style accompaniments are served, including braised potatoes, pickled radish, and young-radish kimchi, with the exact selection changing by season. A large free parking area stands in front of the building. Weekend dining periods often produce a queue, and a waiting shelter is located beside the entrance. Thick chili-paste soup, noodles and dough, stone-pot rice, and fried loach form the meal's principal sequence.
