Wonsan Naengmyeon 원산냉면

Wonsan Naengmyeon is a cold-noodle restaurant at 1829 Bongmyeong-dong, Heungdeok-gu, Cheongju, operated by the same family for three generations. Every bowl of noodles includes four meat-filled dumplings at no extra charge. Regular and double portions have the same price. Hoe naengmyeon is topped with spicy seasoned kodari, or semi-dried pollack. Bibim naengmyeon mixes noodles with chili seasoning, while mul naengmyeon serves them in cold broth. Most principal ingredients except the sliced beef are sourced in Korea. Warm alternatives are soft-tofu stew, spicy beef-and-vegetable soup, and soup containing rice cakes and meat dumplings. The restaurant operates from 10:00 to 16:00 and is closed every Wednesday. Lunch crowds require customers to collect a numbered ticket at the counter and enter in that order. The dedicated parking lot behind the building is small and may fill, in which case drivers need to identify another available parking space nearby.
