Ppeol Dabang is a distinctive seaside cafe on Seonjae Island in Ongjin-gun, Incheon, situated directly on the West Sea shoreline with a design concept inspired by Cuban and Caribbean coastal resorts. The owner, passionate about photography and woodworking, channeled inspiration from travels through South America and Cuba into the space, filling it with Che Guevara flags, Cuban national emblems, upcycled art objects, and handcrafted furniture. Inside, visitors discover a free gallery, a recording studio, books authored by the owner, and displays of vintage camera parts, creating layers of visual interest beyond a typical cafe. A door leads directly from the interior onto the beach, where at low tide locals can be seen harvesting shellfish from the mudflats. As evening approaches, the West Sea sunset paints a spectacular backdrop behind the cafe, and after dark the interior lighting creates an entirely different atmospheric charm. The signature drink is the Ppeol-k-up, while the daily coffee offering is served as a drip brew. A 500-won discount applies for guests bringing personal tumblers. Beverage prices sit on the higher side, though quality is generally well-received. The cafe is pet-friendly and sees many visitors with dogs. Parking is available in a dedicated lot across the road with two hours free, accessed via a barcode printed on the receipt. Caution is warranted when crossing the road due to traffic.
