Gang's Coffee 갱스커피

Gang's Coffee is a large cafe at 143 Cheongseong-ro in Cheongna-myeon, Boryeong, created from buildings and grounds once used for mining. The Korean word in its name refers to a mine shaft. Weather marks and rough surfaces remain visible on the exterior instead of being concealed beneath a uniform new facade. A pond near the entrance contains spaced stepping stones and a water wheel. A short suspension bridge beside the building crosses part of the water and garden, separating the approach into several levels. The interior occupies a first and second floor. Large windows frame the mountain ridge and pond, with window seats facing the water and larger wooden communal tables and sofas set farther inside. Displays of miners' photographs and mining tools continue the former industrial function within the cafe. A separate gallery building and a preserved tunnel section remain elsewhere on the property, so the main cafe, exhibition rooms, and outdoor waterside area form distinct zones. Espresso-based drinks include Americano, cafe latte, vanilla latte, and caramel macchiato. Real chocolate latte emphasizes chocolate and milk rather than coffee, while pressed pineapple juice has a bright yellow color and clear fruit acidity. Noeul Ade combines yuzu and omija, bringing citrus aroma, red-fruit tartness, and layered colors into one glass. Berry Ade uses a red-purple fruit base with visible carbonation. Potato bread resembles a small potato, with a brown outer surface around an elastic dough and softer filling. The bakery display also contains pastries and croissants, whose laminated butter layers contrast with the rounded shape of the potato bread. Broad outdoor seating spreads around the pond and the converted building. Tables beside the water and seats behind the full-height glass face the same mountain landscape from different elevations. The weathered walls, exhibition objects, water wheel, stepping stones, and tunnel remain physical parts of the site rather than decorative references detached from its mining history.
